Does the employer use E-Portfolios for hiring? Does it matter?

I am the founder of a technology consulting firm in the heart of London and been running for over twenty years. I am a professional with significant Information Technology and Network Engineering background. I am also responsible for hiring all new members for our cybersecurity & network engineering team.
Based on my experience and research so far, I created an electronic portfolio. I believe an e-portfolio is useful, but only for certain employment. For a Network Engineering role, I will check their profile but will not look at the e-portfolio for their work. However, for a developer role, I would look at the examples of work.
Recently, I hired a copywriter for a new website project. I browsed many resumes, but most looked very similar, and then I saw a profile with video clip introduction with e-portfolio of works that was very engaging as was easy to decide on hiring. As I work with technology it was easier for me to browse e-portfolio, but is it useful for the other employer and will they care if you have an e-portfolio or not?
Why have an e-portfolio?
As an employer, a candidate with e-portfolio shows computer competency and technical ability, and it shows that someone putting an effort to create something, that gives me confidant on deciding when hiring as an employer.
From the International Journal of e-Porotfolio shows that 73% (62/85) of recruiters reported that, if students had a link to their e-Portfolio on their e-mail signature or cover letter, they would visit it. (Leahy & Filiatrault, 2017)

Hi Shiraj,
Do you think e-portfolio is required for an experienced consultant or sales or pure application development.
Can the e-portfolio lead to rejection of a suitable candidate on the basis of racial or gender basis.

Hi Shoumik
If you would have asked this question before the pandemic, I would have said only developers need to show their work when applying for a job. Now given the remote working is increasing we are holding the job interviews online, hence I see the use of e-portfolio.
I don't see e-portfolio lead to rejection on the basis of racial or gender basis, but I have come across someone very good on the interview but when I saw their work it leads to rejection.

Determination of work over epirtfolio
What are your thought of how an experienced candidate should showcase eportfolio include achievements and work. I cannot show the design I created for a SOC or the calculation that I might have developed for residual risk calculations based on control scoring since it is confidential item.

Re: Determination of work over epirtfolio
Having a collection of personal work in an e-portfolio is a good idea, but to showcase to a potential employer is depends on what type of job that is. Showcasing the work sample, one needs to be very careful of what is in the public domain as many companies will have confidentiality & commercial sensitive materials.

E portfolio is not relevant or significant in case of IT or Cyber Security, with LinkedIn,CV and professional certifications reflecting all the details needed E portfolio is not going to make any change for a cyber security resource career.

Hay Arun, I do agree with you to a point. You will notice in my post, I mentioned I have created an e-portfolio, what I have found interesting is creating a sample firewall policy and security rules and showcasing that to potential employers will give an advantage. I will hire anyone if they can explain and show me their sample work, as that is not breaking any confidentiality rule.

Eportfolio
I agree with the ideas from both of you.
I feel the eportfolio is very important for specially fresher or candidates with less than 3 years of experience.
While experienced candidates can stick to LinkedIn showcasing the certificates they hold and providing brief details of their current roles.
Also, many user use LinkedIn to create educational posts showcasing their credibility and knowledge.
